A wet Wednesday moves through a Flood Watch, a River Market bus bridge, a road match in Nashville and an early-evening score built for the weather.

Last Night in the Metro

Rain and flood messaging carried into the early morning. No stable, authoritative metro-wide overnight incident digest was available by cutoff. That is a reporting limit, not a claim that nothing happened. The confirmed frame is wet weather, a Flood Watch through 10 AM and transit work that changes the downtown trip. Check current local alerts before leaving.

Step Outside KC

NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill kept a Flood Watch in effect through 10 AM CDT. The morning starts cloudy, cooler and wet, with showers possible and a high near 65°F; street ponding remains possible. KMKC’s 2:40 AM CDT observation reported 64°F, light rain, an east wind near 5 mph and 10-mile visibility. The live homepage temperature remains independent: it loads from the latest KMKC observation and hides readings older than two hours.

Roads, Ramps & Wrecks

Streetcar Link buses replace downtown rail between the Riverfront and Union Station every 12–15 minutes from 5 AM to midnight while rail continues between Union Station and UMKC. The City Market stop is closed. Fifth Street between Delaware and Walnut is westbound-only from 7 AM to 7 PM and closed overnight. RideKC’s longer-running I-70 and 18th Street detours remain in effect, and Q4 service changes affect Routes 47 and 50. Live signs and operator alerts remain the authority.

From the Stands

Sporting Kansas City plays Nashville SC at GEODIS Park tonight at 7:30 PM CT after a 3–3 draw with Portland. The result remains unwritten at release. Sporting returns home for Real Salt Lake on Saturday. The Chiefs host the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday at 3:25 PM CDT after the bye.

Wednesday Lunch

Mildred’s Historic 9th Street location lists Wednesday service from 7 AM to 2:45 PM. This is a service listing, not a review or claim of a visit; verify the day’s menu, seating and hours before going.

KC Without a Cover

The Downtown Lee’s Summit Farmers Market is scheduled today from 8 AM to noon. Admission is free; purchases cost money. The outdoor market is weather-sensitive, so check the organizer before travel.

Around the Neighborhoods

River Market carries curb boarding and a closed City Market stop. Union Station becomes the transfer seam. Downtown Lee’s Summit sets the market table. Crown Center gives the rainy evening to Bach and Vivaldi. These are scheduled public rooms, not eyewitness reports.

Arts + Culture

The Kansas City Symphony opens its Baroque program at 7 PM with concertmaster Jun Iwasaki leading Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. The ticketed, no-intermission program is expected to end around 8:15 PM.

City Horoscope

ARIES — Leave time for the transfer. TAURUS — Choose the table that steadies the day. GEMINI — Carry one verified detail forward. CANCER — Make shelter without closing the door. LEO — Let the performance begin at seven. VIRGO — Read the service alert twice. LIBRA — Balance the map with the weather. SCORPIO — Keep the night’s result unwritten. SAGITTARIUS — Travel with a second route. CAPRICORN — Maintenance counts as progress. AQUARIUS — Build the handoff clearly. PISCES — Work at crescent scale.

Moon Note

The waxing crescent is about 17.2% illuminated. It rises near 11:43 AM, reaches the meridian around 4:15 PM and sets near 8:45 PM. Cloud cover and local obstructions govern visibility.

The Transfer Is the Story

Before dawn, the route already asks for a decision. In River Market, buses take the work north of Union Station while the City Market platform closes and curb boarding replaces the usual choreography. Rain makes every temporary sign matter.

At Union Station, Kansas City becomes a transfer: southbound rail on one side of the plan, northbound buses on the other. The gap is small on a map and personal with an umbrella, a stroller or a clock that does not forgive twelve extra minutes.

Maintenance disappears once it succeeds. This week it is visible. Fifth Street changes by the hour, crews work around the clock and riders participate in the repair by learning the new route.

Tonight, the same city stages Vivaldi indoors while Sporting travels to Nashville. Kansas City did not stop. It changed vehicles.

Top Five

1. Check the Flood Watch and radar before the morning trip. 2. Add transfer time for the Streetcar Link bus bridge. 3. Downtown Lee’s Summit Farmers Market, 8 AM–noon, weather dependent. 4. Bach and Vivaldi, 7–8:15 PM, ticketed. 5. Sporting KC at Nashville, 7:30 PM CT.
