Weather
At 4:00 AM CDT, the latest available Kansas City International observation was about 70°F, with a northwest wind near 7 mph, visibility beyond 10 miles and only a few clouds around 5,000 feet.
The National Weather Service expects full sun and a high near 85°F. Sunday night stays clear with a low around 67°F. AirQKC lists no Ozone Action Alert for the 2026 season; the live AirNow map remains the last check before strenuous outdoor work.
Metro Overnight
Kansas City’s public-information desk posted no new citywide emergency bulletin during the overnight crawl. The most consequential handoff remains physical: downtown traffic is divided by the I-70 bridge-work closure, while Sunday museum, market and neighborhood doors open on either side of the detour.
Roads, Transit & Airport
I-70 remains closed in both directions between 23rd Street and U.S. 40/31st Street. MoDOT schedules all lanes and ramps to reopen by 5 AM Monday, August 3, weather permitting.
RideKC’s route 28 detour for the I-70 work expires Monday. Longer construction reroutes continue for Troost MAX, routes 23 and 29 near the Holmes bridge, and routes 402 and 118 near the 18th Street bridge. No airport-wide disruption was confirmed; FlyKC’s live board is the official check for each flight.

The Chiefs have no training-camp practice Sunday. The team returns to the field in St. Joseph at 9:15 AM Monday, with wide receivers and tight ends scheduled for autographs.
