Saturday reached 98°F with a 100°F heat index, and the south wind is still gusting. The daytime market and museum window has closed; the evening now moves through baseball, soccer, film, Blip and Bonner Springs.
STEP OUTSIDE KC
At 3:54 p.m., Downtown Airport reported 98°F, a heat index of 100°F and a south wind at 17 mph with gusts to 26. Tonight stays mostly clear near 77°F. NWS expects Sunday near 98°F with a heat index near 101°F, then hotter conditions next week.
LAST NIGHT IN THE METRO
Last night in the sports file, the Royals beat Cleveland 3–0. Michael Wacha struck out 10 over eight scoreless innings, and Kansas City stretched its run to 11 wins in 12 games.
ROADS, RAMPS & WRECKS
Southwest Trafficway remains reduced near 31st Street while crews repair the cave-in, with restrictions expected into Sept. 2. Route 210 Front Street reroutes around CPKC Stadium from 3 to 11 p.m. RideKC’s longer construction reroutes also remain posted.
