Talk About The Weather — Monday, September 21, 2026

KANSAS CITY, BACK IN MOTION.

Monday opens with a spot shower, then picks up speed: Kansas City carries a 33–30 overtime win into the workweek, Route 107 bends around construction, and the National WWI Museum marks its centennial at the Kauffman Center. Weather sets the pace. The city takes it from there.

Light rain and fog/mist at 68°F at 6:20 a.m.; patchy fog and a slight shower chance lead into a high near 73°F, with a low near 61°F tonight. Weather sets the scene. Kansas City is the story.

1. STEP OUTSIDE KC

Rain and fog are at the starting line. The 6:20 a.m. KMKC observation read 68°F with light rain and fog/mist. Patchy fog and a 20 percent chance of showers stay in the morning picture before a high near 73°F. Tonight settles near 61°F. Keep a light layer close; do not let the weather become the whole plan.

2. LAST NIGHT IN THE METRO

Arrowhead carried Sunday past the clock. Kansas City beat Indianapolis 33–30 in overtime, sending Monday into motion with the city’s football pulse still running.

3. ROADS, RAMPS & WRECKS

Route 107 remains on detour around construction at 47th and Rainbow through today. Read the live RideKC alert before leaving so the adjustment happens on your screen, not at the stop.

4. FROM THE STANDS

The Royals are off Monday. The next home first pitch is Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. against the White Sox, which gives the city one night to reset before the series begins.

5. KC LUNCH LINE

The Westside Local is closed Monday. Save the Summit Street lunch move for Tuesday, when service returns at 11 a.m. Knowing where not to go is useful city intelligence too.

6. KC WITHOUT A COVER

South Branch Library opens the floor for an introductory bachata class from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Strong Avenue. Learn the steps, practice them together, and let Monday end with a different rhythm.

7. AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOODS

Waldo puts a local film on the final stretch. The Transcending film crowdfunding party runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at KC Bier Co.; tickets are $40 and support the Kansas City production’s finishing push.

8. ARTS & CULTURE

At Linda Hall Library, Alchemy of Knowledge moves from Renaissance science to contemporary artificial intelligence. Monday gallery hours run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free.

9. CITY HOROSCOPE

Monday’s city rule for every sign: move with intention, not noise. Momentum is useful only when you choose its direction.

10. MOON NOTE

The Moon rises over Kansas City around 4:53 p.m., waxing gibbous and roughly 79 percent illuminated. The Full Moon arrives September 26.

11. EDITORIAL DISCOVERY

A hundred years of memory points toward what comes next. At the Kauffman Center, the National WWI Museum and Memorial’s centennial program begins at 7:30 p.m., pairing the Kansas City Symphony with a preview of Liberty’s Beacon.

12. TOP FIVE

Five moves that make Monday easier: keep the layer close; check Route 107 before leaving; give Linda Hall an hour; learn a bachata step; and save the evening’s last look for Liberty Memorial.
