MONDAY MORNING · KANSAS CITY · JULY 27, 2026
The City Woke Up Hot. By Afternoon, It Will Feel Like 111.
Kansas City climbs to about 100°F today. An Extreme Heat Warning remains in force through 7 AM Tuesday, with heat-index values as high as 111°F.
Opening Weather Letter
The porch rail is already warm, and the sky has barely begun to lighten. Kansas City starts Monday without the overnight relief summer usually gives back. The temperature holds near 80°F early, then climbs toward 100°F under mostly sunny skies. Move the necessary things forward early—dog walks, loading the car, the grocery run—then let the middle of the day belong to air-conditioning, water and fewer stops.
Step Outside KC

A Grain of Rice
Luck is the errand finished by ten, the ramp checked before the merge and the second bottle already cold. The waxing gibbous moon continues toward Wednesday’s Full Buck Moon. It brightens Monday night but does not cool it.
By noon, the water bottle will be sweating on the desk. Outside, the pavement will only be getting started.
