Kansas City Cools Down and the Roadwork Returns

The pavement is darker after the heat broke, the air feels less punishing, and Thursday arrives with windows cracked open instead of air conditioners fighting at full volume. Across the metro, forecast highs range from the mid-70s near KCI to around 80 in the urban core, with overnight lows generally in the mid-60s to low 70s.

That cooler air changes the whole shape of the day. Morning errands can stretch a little longer. The lunch hour can happen outside. By evening, the city has concerts, movies and neighborhood tables worth reaching—but construction has returned quickly after the World Cup pause, so the route matters again.

STEP OUTSIDE KC — WEATHER FINDINGS

Now: cooler than the early week, with a broad metro temperature spread. Today: roughly 74–80°. Tonight: roughly 64–72°. Tomorrow: still mild before temperatures begin climbing again. LAST NIGHT IN THE METRO

Kansas City is shifting from tournament mode back into ordinary city maintenance. Construction projects paused around the World Cup have resumed across the East Side, downtown and the Northland. Parkville Market is offering a $10 lunch special from participating vendors between 11 AM and 4 PM. Jalapeños in Brookside lists lunch specials from 11 AM to 4 PM, followed by happy hour from 2 to 5 PM.
