Swift Kick Block Party

North Kansas City Builds Its Own World Cup Front Row

Swift Kick takes over Armour Road and Swift Street with futsal, food trucks, inflatables, a beer garden, a DJ and two World Cup quarterfinals on the outdoor screen.

By sunrise, the screen was already standing over Swift Street. Its black frame cut across the North Kansas City sky while food trucks settled along the curb and the painted pavement turned the intersection red and blue. On Saturday, Armour Road and Swift Street are being handed to soccer.

Swift Kick, North Kansas City’s free World Cup watch party and block party, begins at 9 a.m. and runs through 11 p.m. The city has built the day around the scale of a neighborhood street festival: a futsal tournament in the morning, food trucks at noon, inflatables through the afternoon, a beer garden, vendors, a live DJ and two quarterfinals projected onto the large outdoor screen.
